Christopher Nolan Is Set To Take “At Least” Three-Year Break From Filmmaking

 Christopher Nolan will be taking break from filmmaking after The Odyssey. The director has had a pattern of his films having a three-year gap between each time they release, with Interstellar releasing in 2014, Dunkirk following in 2017, Tenet premiering in 2020, and his film Oppenheimer in 2023 which received major popularity during its release. The initial news was reported on Today, with Nolan being interviewed by Kaylee Hartung.  Nolan stated,

I definitely hit the limits of my own stamina and everybody’s stamina, I think. I mean, it’s The Odyssey, of course it should be difficult. We’re not doing the job right making a film of The Odyssey if it doesn’t seem difficult.

Nolan also takes note of how The Odyssey was deserving of IMAX cameras,

I went to IMAX, and I said, ‘Look, if ever we are going to fulfill this dream of shooting the entire movie that way, this is the one. This is The Odyssey.

The Odyssey is based on the epic poem written by Homer, starring Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting, The Martian), Tom Holland (Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day), Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada, The Princess Diaries) and Robert Pattinson (Twilight, The Batman). Zendaya (Euphoria, Challengers), Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther, A Quiet Place: Day One), Jon Bernthal (The Punisher, The Walking Dead), John Leguizamo (Ice Age, John Wick), Mia Goth (Pearl, MaXXXine), Elliot Page (Juno, The Umbrella Academy), Travis Scott (Sicko Mode, Goosebumps) and others were also among the all-star cast. 

The Odyssey is available to watch in theaters.
