Chris Pine, star of Star Trek and Into the Woods, is now circling DC’s Wonder Woman. The movie, starring Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, is currently in pre-production and has not released any other casting news, so this is most likely the first of many casting announcements for the movie in the near future.
If Pine officially joins the movie, he would be playing Steve Trevor, Prince’s love interest. In the original comic arc, Trevor is a military intelligence officer whose plane crash lands on an Amazon island, where he is nursed back to health by Princess Diana, who then follows him back to the outside world. Once in the outside world, she takes on the persona of Wonder Woman as well as the mild-mannered alter ego Diana Prince.
Patty Jenkins is helming the project, taking over from Michelle MacLaren, and the screenplay was written by Jason Fuchs. Chris Pine’s other current projects include The Finest Hours, a Coast Guard drama, as well as another reprisal of Captain Kirk in the upcoming Star Trek 3.
Gal Gadot is also starring as Wonder Woman in the much-anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice . Wonder Woman is scheduled for release on June 23, 2017, a year after Batman v Superman‘s release next year.
