After releasing accompanying “His” and “Hers” teaser trailers, the crafty marketing department behind Damien Chazelle’s upcoming musical romance La La Land has unveiled the official trailer. Set in the City of Angels, this modern romance stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone and marks Chazelle’s ambitious follow-up to his Oscar-winning 2014 breakthrough Whiplash.
The film, a throwback to the Technicolor musicals of yore, has already been a critics and audience favorite ever since its premiere as the opening night selection at the 2016 Venice Film Festival; Stone picked up the Best Actress prize at the festival. Since, La La Land picked up the People’s Choice Award at the 2016 Toronto Film Festival and has amassed huge awards buzz. The story follows a jazz pianist (Gosling) and an aspiring actress (Stone) who find romance while dealing with the blows and joys of expanding their art. Chazelle wrote and directed the story while the film features original songs from Justin Horowitz, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
