Oscar winning actress Angelina Jolie Pitt (Girl Interrupted) takes on triple duty with her latest movie By the Sea. She directed, wrote and stars in the drama alongside her husband Brad Pitt (this is the second cinematic pairing of the Hollywood power couple- the first was Mr. and Mrs. Smith, which opened a decade ago). The film- appearing to be more a mood piece than overly plot driven- centers around a married couple whose relationship may be wilting while travelling in France in the 1970s. By the Sea also stars Melanie Laurant (Beginners) and Melvil Poupaud (Lawrence Anyways)
This marks the third directing feature for Jolie Pitt following the 2011 film In the Land of Blood & Honey and last years’ Unbroken. By the Sea will make its world premiere as the opening night film at the 2015 AFI Film Festival before opening wide on November 13th.
