It has been quite the week of trailers, what with the release of new previews for mega-blockbusters Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. And now this morning Universal released the first full trailer for Jurassic World. While past trailers have given us a good idea of the film’s plot, this new one puts together a much more clear picture as to what we can expect.
Included in the new footage is Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) as Owen Grady, training a pack of velociraptors and explaining his methods to Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), which is also the first bit of humor we have seen. Also new is a look at the attack scene where the Indominus Rex attacks two children touring the park in a sphere. What the trailer shows, particularly the claw cracking through the sphere, is very reminiscent of the T-Rex attack in the original Jurassic Park. The genetically engineered dinosaur’s escape seems to wreak havoc on the park, unleashing pterodactyls, among other park attractions.
This is also the first time we’ve seen some of the supporting cast members in action, inlcuding BD Wong (Jurassic Park), who is returning to the role of Dr. Wu from the first movie. Vincent D’Onofrio (Netflix’s Daredevil) also makes his first appearance in this trailer, highlighting the challenges our heroes will face in trying to contain the beast. There’s also a quick shot of Jake Johnson, who worked with director Colin Trevorrow on 2012’s Safety Not Guaranteed, standing up from his desk. Based on his appearance in this quick shot, it looks like he’ll be playing a tech support employee similar to Samuel L. Jackson‘s character in the 1993 classic.
