20th Century Fox has released a new trailer for director David O. Russell’s (American Hustle) upcoming biopic Joy starring Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook), Bradley Cooper (Burnt), Edgar Ramirez (Point Break), Robert De Niro (Heist) and Virginia Madsen (Sideways).
The film follows the life of Joy Mangano (Lawrence), who builds a business empire through inventing and selling the Miracle Mop on home shopping networks. The film includes Joy’s relationship between with her parents (De Niro and Madsen) as well as her husband (Ramirez).
The film’s first trailer gave little information in terms of story, instead relying on the impressive cast as well as the style and music selection that Russell is known for, especially in his more recent films. That’s all present in the new trailer but there is more information about Joy’s relationship with her family, as well as her upbringing that led to her drive.
Lawrence will have a busy holiday season at the movies with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 releasing November 19 and Joy hitting theaters a little more than a month afterwards on Christmas Day.
We’ll have more on Joy as it develops during what will surely be a busy awards season.
