‘Captain Marvel’ Trailer Gains 109 Million Views in 24 Hours

Marvel’s first ever solo female superhero is coming in hot. The first official trailer for Captain Marvel debuted this past Tuesday and garnered a total of 109 million views within its first 24 hours online.

Oscar-winner Brie Larson stars in the titular role. Aside from being Marvel’s first solo female outing, the film also boasts the studio’s first ever female co-direction, with Anna Boden and partner Ryan Fleck at the helm.

While these numbers aren’t breaking any viewing records, they are also quite impressive, putting this trailer at number 4 against other Marvel trailers. Avengers: Infinity War brought in 230 million, while its second trailer brought in 179 million. Thor: Ragnarok clocked in an impressive 136 million last year as well. It should be noted that Captain Marvel managed to come in 20 million views ahead of Black Panther‘s trailer, and if Captain Marvel is able to equally trade trailer views in box office tickets, it is on the right track for a stellar opening weekend.

Captain Marvel also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Lee Pace, Jude Law, Annette Bening, Gemma Chan, McKenna Grace, and more. The film is set for theaters on Mar. 8, 2019.
