Cannes Updated Official Selection Line-Up

The Cannes Film Festival has rounded out its roster of Official Selection films before it kicks off on May 13, with nine new titles being added to the already impressive line-up. Two new competition titles have been added, with several Cannes favorites included in the new out-of-competition additions.

Premiering in competition are Michel Franco’s medical drama Chronic, starring Bitsie Tulloch and Tim Roth, and Guillaume Nicloux’s Valley of Love, with Isabelle Huppert and Gerard Depardieu as two famous actors who reconnect in Death Valley after their son dies. Franco’s film After Lucia won the Un Certain Regard prize at Cannes in 2012.

Out-of-competition titles include films by Cannes veterans Gaspar Noé, Brillante Mendoza, Naomi Kawase, and Apichatpong Weerasethakul, who won the Palme d’Or at the 2010 festival for his art drama Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives.
