Cameron Diaz has officially decided to hang up her crown for that of a more domestic life, according to Variety.
The 45-year-old actress, who once voiced Princess Fiona in all of the Shrek films, told The Sweetest Thing costars Christina Applegate and Selma Blair that she was semi-retiring from acting to pursue the raising of her children.
Her last onscreen appearance was in the 2014 revival of Annie. As rumors of her retirement began swirling earlier this month, with talks about a sequel to The Sweetest Thing, Diaz said in the interview that she’s done.
Both the original writer, Nancy Pimental, as well as director Roger Kumble confirmed that there had been no discussions of a sequel for The Sweetest Thing, but added “nothing would make me happier than to work with those incredibly talented people.”
Diaz has had quite an illustrious career, making her big splash in 1994’s The Mask, making herself a blockbuster hit in the Shrek and Charlie’s Angels movies, and building a solid career acting in popular romantic comedies such as There’s Something About Mary, It Happened in Vegas, The Other Woman, and The Holiday. It will be tough for many viewers to lose her bright face on the big screen.
