Broad Green Pictures has acquired the distribution rights for the family drama I Smile Back starring Sarah Silverman (Take This Waltz) and Josh Charles (TV’s The Good Wife). The film premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and follows suburban wife Laney Brooks (Silverman) as a mother whose reckless use of drugs and infidelity puts her family life in jeopardy. Charles plays her husband.
The film is based on the on the novel by Amy Koppelman, who co-wrote the script with actress and first-time writer Paige Dylan. Silverman has drawn a lot of attention for her performance as the distressed mother. Her work in 2011’s Take This Waltz garnered her acclaim as well.
The movie was directed by Adam Salky (Dare) and produced by Brian Koppleman, who is excited about the acquisition and what it means for those involved:

Broad Green Pictures hasn’t announced any specific plans for the film’s release just yet.
