AMC’s streaming service, Shudder, has secured all rights to the British horror film The Power starring Rose Williams (Reign) for distribution in North America, Australia, Ireland, United Kingdom, and New Zealand.
Set in the 1970s after a series of blackouts triggered by protesting miners who regularly shut down electricity to voice their grievances. The lack of control is terrible enough, but a young nurse (Williams) finds herself in disturbing situations after discovering that a mysterious spirit haunts the corridors of the decaying hospital where she performs her first night shift.
The Power is the debut film for writer-director Corinna Faith. She has previously worked on television projects and directed several short films.
Emily Gotto, Shudder’s Director of Global Acquisitions & Co-Productions, said, “With The Power, Corinna Faith has established herself as a remarkable new voice in genre cinema. We know Shudder members will be terrified by her debut feature and thrilled by Rose Williams’ star-making performance.”
The producers Matthew James Wilkinson (Yesterday) and Rob Watson (Italian Studies) added on by saying, “We’re incredibly excited to be partnering with Shudder on The Power. The team at Shudder’s passion for genre is unparalleled, and we can’t wait to share the film with their equally devoted audience.”
The film will be on the streaming service in 2021.
