I guess you could call Bradley Cooper an All-American actor. With his Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor in American Hustle, Cooper is sticking to his guns and is attached to star in the upcoming adaptation of Ben Sanders’ novel American Blood. With the word “American” in the title how could he go wrong?
While the novel, which is the New Zealand author’s American debut, is not even set for publication until fall 2015, Warner Bros. has already won the bidding war for the material. American Blood will be the first book in a series of crime thrillers, so there is definite franchise potential with the films.
Cooper will star as Marshall Grade, an NYPD officer turned mob informant, who is pulled into an investigation involving a missing woman, thus jeopardizing his cover under the witness protection program in New Mexico. In addition to his duties in front of the camera, Cooper will serve as a producer for the film.
With the book’s release over a year away, it’s a safe be that the film is still a couple years off. For those interested in checking out Sanders’ writing style, he’s published three other books (The Fallen, By Any Means and Only the Dead)that were bestsellers in New Zealand.
Bradley Cooper fans will also have plenty to keep them busy. The actor will voice the character Rocket Raccoon in this summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy and will also star in Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper (yes, he definitely has a type). Let’s also not forget that American Hustle is still in theaters and will compete in 10 different award categories in the Oscars tomorrow night.
