Bradley Cooper in Talks to Star in ‘Orphan X’

Warner Bros. is in negotiations to acquire the movie rights to Gregg Hurwitz’s upcoming book Orphan X, with Bradley Cooper as co-producer and possible star, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Not much is known about the plot of the thriller, which will be published in 2016, though it’s reportedly about a man who is led by an LAPD detective into a world of human slavery. Hurwitz will also pen the screen adaptation of his novel.

Cooper and Warner Bros. are currently enjoying the success of their most recent collaboration, American Sniper, which was a box-office smash and has been nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor (Cooper). Along with his continued critical success as an actor (receiving three consecutive Oscar nods for Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, and American Sniper), Cooper has also been amping up his producing credits lately. Besides co-producing American Sniper and Orphan X, he is also attached as a producer for the upcoming crime comedy Arms and the Dudes, directed and co-produced by Todd Phillips (The Hangover) and starring Jonah Hill (The Wolf of Wall Street) and Miles Teller (Whiplash). Phillips will also join Cooper as a producer for Orphan X.
