It truly feels like there will not be a time to die for Daniel Craig‘s final Bond flick. The Universal and MGM picture, No Time to Die, which is Craig’s final film in the Bond series and marks the 25th movie in the iconic franchise, has been delayed once again.
The film was originally set for an April 2020 release, but, after subsequent lockdowns due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was pushed back many times finally ending in April 2021. However, now with more time Universal has delayed the pick once more (hopefully) to October 8, 2021.
This comes as little surprise as movie theaters in large markets struggle to stay open. LA, New York, and San Francisco theaters have been largely closed since December. This delay could start a trend for other blockbusters as well. Sony recently announced that they will be pushing back Cinderella, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Morbius, just to name a few.
While Disney is holding out hope for Black Widow and some other films, there are most likely discussion on the future of that release date.
Universal pushed back some other movies as well. Judging from the size of the talent attached, it is clear that the Studio wants to make sure their huge movies, such as Craig’s Bond, gets as much box office revenue as possible when theaters come back at full strength.
Nobody, starring Bob Odenkirk, has been delayed from February to April 2021. Last Night in Soho, Edgar Wright’s latest film, has been delayed from April to October 22, 2021.
It is uncertain if any of these release dates will stay because there is no way to tell what the future holds for cinema. However, if everything goes smoothly, hopefully everyone will be back in theaters by October.
