‘Bond 25’ is Confirmed for a 2019 Release, but No Word if Daniel Craig Will Return

On Tuesday it was announced by Eon Productions and Metro Goldwyn Mayer, both of whom own the rights to the long-running franchise, that the 25th Bond film will be released on November 8th, 2019. There is little information as to if Daniel Craig, who played the titular role in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and most recently Spectre, will be returning to save the world once again — although rumors suggest that he is in negotiations to come back. It was after Spectre when Craig said that it was a grueling experience and that he wouldn’t return to the franchise. Spectre was the last film per Craig’s contract, so there was speculation as to whether or not he would return.

Other actors have been considered to take over the role including Tom Hardy (Dunkirk), Idris Elba (The Dark Tower), James Norton (TV’s Happy Valley), Aiden Turner (The Hobbit Trilogy) and even Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers). Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight) has reportedly been in talks to helm the project as it’s next director — although that is still speculation as well. Screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade who wrote the last four Bond films are rumored to return to write the script for the next installment. British artist Adele who performed the opening title sequence song for Skyfall is also being talked to by producer Barbra Broccoli in returning for the next installment.

We’ll keep you updated as news unfolds regarding the future of James Bond.

Rick Rice: A kid at heart who has loved watching movies from a very young age. Credit must be given to Siskel and Ebert whose film reviews educated me on the world of film inspired me to become a writer myself. I love to read books that range from various topics, copious amounts of research is something that excites me and of course sitting in a movie theater is a highlight of my life. When I'm not watching movies or reading I enjoy listening to foreign music and working hard on finishing my short stories. Currently working on my degree in English with a plan to enroll into Film School with the dream of becoming a screenwriter and director.
