‘Bob Marley: One Love’ Isn’t Worried About A Thing With $14 Million Domestically

In its second week of release, the new Bob Marley biopic isn’t worried about a thing. Despite a few new releases this weekend, Bob Marley: One Love has been able to stay at the top of the box office.

As the title suggests, the film centers around the life and achievements of Reggae superstar Bob Marley. The film is looking to bag between $13 and $14 million across the weekend.

As The Hollywood Reporter stated, the film was able to surpass $100 million on Thursday. This follows its February 14th release, where it became one of the best-performing biopics following a musical artist within its six-day release frame.

The two new movies making their debut this weekend are Ordinary Angels and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba- To The Hashira Training.  Demon Slayer, connected to the anime of the same name, is looking to land between $11 and $12 million by Sunday’s end, with Ordinary Angels, based on a true story, expecting to take home $6 million in its first outing.

The newest installment in Sony’s Marvel films, Madame Web struggled to stay afloat in its first weekend, and is doing a similar song and dance this weekend. The new film from Ethan Coen, Drive Away Dolls, is putting up less-than-stellar numbers with its debut as well, only making $2.4 million in its opening.

Still going strong, however, is the Timothée Chalamet-led film, Wonka. Despite being in theaters for over ten weeks, it still hasn’t fallen out of the top ten, adding $2.5 million to its impressive gross.
