‘Black Panther’ Trailer and Poster Shows That it is Good to be King

“It is hard for a good man to be king.”

During ABC’s broadcast of Game 4 of the NBA Finals and the numerous Spider-Man: Homecoming spots tying into it, Disney premiered the first teaser trailer for Marvel Studios’ next highly anticipated solo-film, Black Panther.

Following his much celebrated big-screen debut in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, the film will follow T’Challa, Black Panther himself, as he returns home to the isolated nation of Wakanda to begin his reign as the newly crowned king, following the passing of his father in the aforementioned Civil War. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, possibly in the form of Andy Serkis’ Ulysses Klaue, T’Challa and his allies will be tested as they are drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of the advanced African nation and the entire world at risk.

Directed by Creed‘s Ryan Coogler, the film stars Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, along with Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, and Forest Whitaker.

Black Panther will claw its way into theater screens on February 16, 2018.

Austin Allison: Born and raised in Tucson, AZ, I have been obsessed with cartoons, animation, and film in general for as long as I've known how to talk and draw. From Disney animation to indie movies, filmmaking was always the purest form of art to me. I majored in Film and Television Studies and minored in Studio Art at the University of Arizona. The greatest aspect of studying film was developing a creative and critical eye for a medium that I had loved for so long, but couldn't explain why I loved it until now.
