Beyoncé to Perform in Live-action ‘Lion King’

The speculation has finally been confirmed: talented singer and actress Beyoncé Knowles-Carter will play role in the upcoming new live-action Lion King film. Fans of the older movie have noticed that many of the roles had been cast, except for Nala, Simba’s old friend, eventual love interest, and the driving force in getting the heir to the throne to return to Pride Rock.

This actually isn’t Knowles-Carter’s first connection to Disney: her name was also thrown around as the potential voice actress for the main character Tiana in The Princess and the Frog. She has also acted in Epic and Dreamgirls. Knowles-Carter has also appeared in countless music videos, especially in her recent famous visual album Lemonade.

Knowles-Carter has also lent her voice to many musical soundtracks for movies like The Great Gatsby. Hopefully the creators of the new Lion King film will do her justice. It’s especially important to note that the original movie was a musical and that there is currently a Lion King musical show on Broadway, so this would be the perfect venue for the singer.

Knowles-Carter will also act alongside names like Chiwetel Ejiofor, Donald Glover, and James Earl Jones.

As of now, the movie is still in pre-production. It will reach theaters in summer of 2019.
