Ben Schnetzer (The Book Thief) and Nick Jonas (TV’s Kingdom) have been cast as the two leads in the indie drama Goat, according to The Wrap. Based off the memoir by Brad Land, the story follows a 19 year-old Land (Schnetzer) after a terrifying assault. He decides to enroll into college and pledge a fraternity with his charismatic younger brother (Jonas)– an experience that tests his meaning of “brotherhood” in brutal ways.
Andrew Neel (Darkon) will direct from the script co-written by himself and Mike Roberts. The Interview star James Franco has signed on as producer under his Rabbit Bandini Films banner.
Schnetzer and Jonas, both stars on the rise, have several big projects among them in the wake of this news. Schnetzer recently starred in the British ensemble The Riot Club, and as a young gay activist in this year’s critically acclaimed Pride. Up ahead, he has just wrapped filming on Universal’s Warcraft adaptation, and is also starring in Punk’s Dead, the sequel to 1998’s SLC Punk.
Jonas, in addition to his singing career, continues his work as an MMA fighter on DirecTV’s Kingdom series, and will appear alongside Durmot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding) in the thriller, Careful What You Wish For.
