Though Ben Affleck has been vocal about wanting to play Batman for many years now, he’s encountered a lot of difficulties in retrospect to the caped crusader’s appearance on the big screen. Affleck has been attached to his own standalone Bruce Wayne movie, which has dealt with a bit of turmoil, marking his departure not necessarily from the film itself but certainly from the roles as writer and director. He’s also had the disadvantage of playing Batman in three films which have not received the best fan reception: 2016’s Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, as well this year’s Justice League.
Well, it looks like Affleck will be keeping up his trend of appearing in cameos of other DC movies, as well as ensemble films in the same universe: he will also be acting in the upcoming Flash movie, headlined by Ezra Miller (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, We Need to Talk about Kevin), who also made a cameo in Suicide Squad and made his first extended appearance in Justice League as the strangely-and perhaps inexplicably-clumsy speedster.
Though these rumors are still in the early stages, it may be possible that another actor will take over the mantle of Batman, effectively replacing Affleck, Variety reports. Still, it would be wise to wait for a full confirmation, as throughout much of the chaos, Affleck has continued to state that he will be playing Bruce Wayne.
