Barry Jenkins, the director behind the award-winning Moonlight, will be joining Chadwick Boseman on developing new thriller titled Expatriate, according to Deadline. Boseman will be writing the script with Logan Coles. The film looks to focus on a hijacking which occurred on a plane flying through the air all the way back in the 1970’s. Boseman looks to also be starring in the film, though no other actors or actresses have been announced. This looks to be a great new project for two highly in-demand members of the film industry.
In other news, after the overwhelming success of Moonlight which was also adapted from a literary work, that time originally being a play, Jenkins will helm the screen transition of If Beale Street Could Talk by author James Baldwin for Annapurna Pictures, which might be starring Stephan James. Jenkins’ last adaptation won the Oscar for Best Picture, and it’s obvious that If Beale Street Could Talk and Expatriate are definitely in good hands!
Currently, besides Boseman and Jenkins, only producers are linked to the film, including Mark Johnson, Mark Ceryak, and Marc Platt and Adam Siegel, in conjunction with screenwriter Coles. We will provide more information when more of the cast is announced.
