Back To The Future Cast Talk About Ideas Of A Reboot

Back To The Future wrapped up its engaging time traveling sci-fi trilogy in 1990. Now, 33 years into the future there are speculations of a reboot. The dynamic duo, Christopher Lloyd and Micheal J. Fox both had something to say about the idea, except they have two different opinions.

Christopher Lloyd is all for the idea of a reboot. He does explain how the story ended perfectly in three films, but he is always up for another wacky time traveling adventure.

“I would love to do a sequel, but I think Bob Zemeckis (director) and Steven Spielberg (producer) felt that they told the story in the three episodes… but if somebody has a brilliant idea that would justify a fourth film it might happen.”

Lloyd also goes on to explain his and Fox’s relationship. He believes they instantly clicked and had a great connection on camera and he would love to experience that again.

“‘There was a certain ease between us,’ he says. ‘I didn’t have to struggle get there with Michael. There was never any conflict. It just fit. And it’s never stopped. I feel like we could go and do it again after all these years and not have to think about the relationship between Marty and Doc.'”

However, Micheal Fox has a different view on the idea of a reboot:

“I’m not fanatical… Do what you want. It’s your movie. I got paid already.”

He then goes on to explain how he isn’t necessarily against the reboot, but instead thinks the trilogy ended with no other means to continue the story.

“I think Robert Zemeckis (director) and Bob Gale (co-writer) have been really smart about that. I don’t think it needs rebooting because are you going to clarify something? You’re going to find a better way to tell the story? I doubt it.”

Fox states that he never heard any talk of a reboot after the trilogy ended. He did say if he were to ever hear about the reboot, he probably wouldn’t agree due to his Parkinson’s. Fox’s new documentary, Still, will have recreations of specific scenes from the movie series.

Currently, the only continuation of the series is gearing up to open on Broadway as a musical. Lloyd and Fox have not been associated with this production.
