Avengers: Endgame was rereleased this week with extended scenes, aiming to re-attract audiences for multiple viewings. Friday viewings brought in another $1.87 million domestically, with an estimate of $6 million for the weekend. So far the film’s domestic total is at $837.645 million and the worldwide total is $2.72 billion. The one box office record that the film is working to surpass is worldwide total earnings, which Avatar still holds the record for. Endgame would need to earn another $27 million to surpass it, and experts say that the film will not get there for now.
The extended scenes both aimed to increase earnings for Endgame and promote Marvel’s next release- Spider-Man: Far From Home. The next Spider-Man installment releases in the US this Tuesday and is expected to bring in big numbers once again. It is the first film to discuss the aftermath of the timeline-altering events of Endgame, and surely fans will be tuning in to see how this film wraps up this phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and sets up possibilities for the next one.
Another Endgame release could be planned for another time this year or even later if Marvel is so determined to dominate the record board. But as of right now, it is highly unlikely we will be seeing any more records broken by Endgame as Marvel moves along with future releases.
