

Austin Butler and Saoirse Ronan have been confirmed to lead the film feature adaptation of Deep Cuts. Sean Durkin is set to direct the movie while Ronan, Ronald Bronstein, Eli Bush, and Josh Safdie are all labeled as producers. The film is adapted from the novel of the same title that was written by Holly Brickley. The debut novel was published on February 25th, 2025, by the Crown.
The official synopsis via Deadline reads, “Set in the 2000s, Deep Cuts is a love story about two music-obsessed twentysomethings navigating the messy realities of ambition and adulthood over the course of an era-defining decade.”
Sean Durkin is known for directing critically acclaimed films like 2011’s Martha Marcy May Marlene and 2023’s Iron Claw, the latter being his most recent work. Ronan had a busy 2024 with lead performances in films such as The Outrun, where she also was in the producing chair, and Blitz. Butler had a packed 2024 as well, starring in the Apple miniseries Masters of the Air and a performance in the feature Dune: Part Two.
