‘Atlas Shrugged III: Who is John Galt’ Trailer Released With an Agenda

With midterm elections seven weeks away, a trailer for Atlas Shrugged: Who is John Galt? not coincidentally debuted this Monday. This preview features a steamy romance between its female lead, Dagny Taggert (Laura Regan), and the mysterious title character portrayed by Kristoffer Polaha (Devil’s Knot). This will be the conclusion to the trilogy adapted from the Ayn Rand novel of the same name. And while the Rand book has proven to be enduringly popular, the movie adaptations have been both critical and financial flops. It’s likely Atlas Shrugged: Who Is John Galt? will follow suit.

After her plane crashes in the movie, Taggert is rescued by Galt. As the two grow closer to one another, the economic stability of the world’s nations continues to crumble. The trailer trades romance for politics as a love scene cuts to a television screen. On it, for his first acting gig, is former Texas congressman Ron Paul. Reporting from his real-life Revolution studios, Paul reiterates the Rand philosophy: “Millions of people are sick and tired of the endless wars, the poverty that is coming, the attacks on our civil liberties.” – a not-so-far cry from Paul’s talking points during his 2012 presidential run.

Atlas Shrugged as a novel is one of the highest-selling novels ever to be printed. Its story is of an economically depressed America where the toils of its citizens is the result of abusive expansion of Government regulation. It’s a political theory endorsed by the conservative/libertarian-minded community, thus Paul’s presence in the movie, along with fellow conservative television personalities such as Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck.

Atlas Shrugged: Who is John Galt? was produced by entertainment lawyer Harmon Kaslow (who also co-wrote the screenplay) and CEO of UM Holdings Ltd. John Aglialoro. It is self-distributed by them through Atlas Distribution Co. and is set to hit theaters September 12, 2014.
