Chris Pine of Princess Diaries, Wonder Woman, and Star Trek fame is officially making his directorial debut. The film is entitled Poolman and includes a script Pine wrote Ian Gotler, Annette Bening, and Danny Devito. Bening and Devito have already announced that they will be acting in the production.
The film follows Darren Barrenman, a pool man for an apartment complex in Los Angeles. But when Barrenman uncovers a water heist, he follows every lead he can in the name of protecting his precious city. Pine has been cast in the starring role. There are two new additions to the cast: Ariana DeBose and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Fans recognize DeBose’s name from her work in the reimagined Spielberg West Side Story for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. She’s also a recipient of a BAFTA, SAG, and Golden Globe, respectively.
Meanwhile Leigh is best known for her work as Stacy Hamilton in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. She also has a plethora of film credits to her name. Another member that’s joined the team is cinematographer Matthew Jensen, whose work includes Wonder Woman: 1984, Fantastic Four, and Game of Thrones.
Production for Poolman is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles in June of 2022.
