George Clooney and Brad Pitt are together again for a thriller by Jon Watts, and Apple Studios have just bought it.
According to Deadline, Apple Studios has secured yet another sought-after film package, and it’s for the untitled thriller that Spider-Man filmmaker Jon Watts will write and direct and produce, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt. The film will have a wide theater distribution.
Clooney and Pitt will star in the film and produce it through their respective production companies, Smokehouse Pictures and Plan B Entertainment.
The project is set to revolve around two lone wolf fixers who are assigned to the same assignment.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed last week that the untitled thriller was a part of a massive bidding war with Apple competing against Sony, Netflix, and Lionsgate for rights to the package. Amazon, Annapurna, Universal, MGM, and Warner Bros. were said to be interested as well.
Other Apple films include Antoine Fuqua’s new film Emancipation, which will star Will Smith, Martin Scorsese’s Killer of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, and the musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’s classic holiday story Spirited which is set to star Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds.
Clooney is set to star next in the rom-com Ticket to Paradise opposite Julia Roberts.
Pitt is currently filming Damien Chazelle’s Babylon.
