Apple Services, which includes Apple TV+, saw sales of $21.2 billion this quarter, up more than 8%. Although Apple doesn’t break down the percentages between Services, which also includes businesses like Apple Music, Apple Fitness, and Apple App Store, it’s safe to say that Apple TV+’s millions of subscribers along with the success of several of its recent shows and movies have helped to increase the company’s revenue.
“We are happy to report that we had an all-time revenue record in Services during the June quarter, driven by over 1 billion paid subscriptions, and we saw continued strength in emerging markets thanks to robust sales of iPhone,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook, “From education to the environment, we are continuing to advance our values, while championing innovation that enriches the lives of our customers and leaves the world better than we found it.”
Although the exact number of Apple TV+ subscribers isn’t known, the last known count years ago was 20 million and the number is bound to be higher as of 2023. Apple TV+ hit viewership highs this year with Ted Lasso, Silo and The Last Thing He Told Me.
Apple TV+’s Israeli spy thriller Tehran has become one of the biggest TV series to land SAG-AFTRA interim agreement, and Sharon Horgan’s Bad Sisters has also landed an interim agreement due to its equity contract. Silo, the streaming service’s most-watched drama series, is now on an indefinite hiatus of filming.
Although it seems that the strikes will greatly affect viewership in upcoming times due to slow filming schedules, it seems that Apple TV+ will continue to rise as a streaming service.
