Antoine Fuqua’s Mark Wahlberg-led Sci-fi Thriller ‘Infinite’ Debuting on Paramount Plus

Antoine Fuqua‘s new sci-fi thriller Infinite, which stars Mark Wahlberg, is set to exclusively debut on Paramount‘s streaming service in the U.S., Paramount Plus. Viacom CBS CEO Bob Bakish announced the release strategy during the company’s quarterly earnings call, and is part of move from the company to bolster its lineup of original content. The service, which was previously known as CBS All Access, isn’t quite one of the frontrunners in the competitive streaming space, and faces tough competition with Netflix, Disney Plus and HBO Max.

There isn’t much known about Infinite, but the film follows Wahlberg as a schizophrenic man discovering that his hallucinations are actually visions from past lives. The film also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sophie Cookson, Jason Mantzoukas, Rupert Friend, Toby Jones and Dylan O’Brien. Depending on its reception when it releases, the film could pull in a good number of subscribers for Paramount Plus.

The streaming wars are raging on with Netflix releasing an abundance of original content and Warner Bros. and Disney being among the first major companies to release their films directly to streaming services, making it difficult for Paramount to bring attention to their platform. Bakish told investors that Paramount Plus is kicking off a “Mountain of Movies” marketing campaign to highlight the thousands of new films to the streamer. In early June, 1,000 new films will go live, and by the end of July, the total count of new films will add up to over 2,500.
