Andrew Lincoln Teases ‘The Walking Dead’ Film Centered Around Rick Grimes

Zombie fans should be highly satisfied this week. When AMC approached the panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, the network represented by moderator Chris Hardwick unveiled short teaser trailer for the untitled feature film starring Andrew Lincoln with the captioned “Rick Grimes Returns In Theaters.”

According to Deadline, The Walking Dead based film will be distributed by Universal and they are currently tinkering around with a release date. Robert Kirkman who served as a producer on the eponymous television series will have a hand in the film’s production. The Rick Grimes centered films will be the first projects in development from former showrunner Scott Gimple as part of multi-picture plan for The Walking Dead universe. This cinematic universe will include additional films, specials, digital content, series, and among others. Gimple confirmed that some of the tales will relate to The Walking Dead and some will be standalone.

Current showrunner Angela Kang was among the many crew members from The Walking Dead at the Hall H stage alongside Kirkman, Dave Alpert, Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero. The show’s cast was also there ranging from Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Danai Gurira, Ryan Hurst, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Avi Nash, Nadia Hilker, and Eleanor Matsuura.
