Andrew Lincoln Confirms ‘Walking Dead’ Movie Filming Start Date

It’s been almost two years since a Walking Dead film was first announced, but Andrew Lincoln has officially confirmed that the movie has filming start date in spring of 2020, as according to Screen Rant. The plot of the film is still under wraps; all fans know for now is that Lincoln’s character, Rick Grimes, will be the central character and star of the film.

The Walking Dead movie, directed by Greg Nicotero, was originally announced at Comic Con in 2019 by Lincoln, and it was slated to begin filming in the spring of 2019, but the production team ran into some problems. By the time this was settled, Covid-19 entered in strong and by July of 2020, Producer David Alpert announced that the film would have to pause.

Lincoln confirmed in December that the production’s ability to finally continue with filming is largely due to having access to the Covid-19 vaccine, “…with good intentions, and if everything works and I can leave my country, I plan to be back in America filming in spring-summer.” If the film continues to not experience more delays and continues filming in the spring, The Walking Dead film would have a theatrical release in 2022, the same time that The Walking Dead show finishes its final season on AMC.

Melissa Cusano: I love to escape reality with reading, writing, movies, and music! If I'm not working I love to go to concerts (pre-covid), play video games, and hang out with my dog Ozzi.
