A team-up between Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans is no more. The Apple Original Films romantic action-adventure film Ghosted, directed by Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman), was once to star Johansson and Evans in the title roles. They are best known for their roles as Captain America and Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With Johansson out of the film, Evans reunites with another film star he worked with before his Knives Out co-star Ana de Armas.
According to sources, Johansson has left the project amicably due to a scheduling dispute. The change is due to the fact that the film was supposed to be in production by February; unfortunately, Johansson couldn’t make the change work.
Skydance’s David Ellison Spearheaded the effort to bring in De Armas, one of the most sought out actresses since starring in No Time to Die, Blade Runner 2049, Blonde, and Knives Out.
Evans will serve as producer, while de Armas will serve as executive producer. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland) will also produce the romantic action-adventure film. Reese and Wernick developed the project based on an original idea of theirs and sold it to Skydance Media to produce.
Fletcher is currently on board to direct Sherlock Holmes 3, which brings back Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Jared Harris, and Eddie Marsan.
De Armas most recently co-starred alongside Evans and Ryan Gosling in the Netflix film The Gray Man, directed by brothers Joe and Anthony Russo. She is also being considered for the main role in the John Wick spinoff Ballerina.
