American Cinematheque’s 4th Annual Tribute to the Crafts will return to the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood on Jan. 9 to honor the artists who work behind the scenes of some of the most acclaimed movies of the year, such as Wicked, Emilia Pérez, Challengers, and Dune: Part Two.
“Tribute to the Crafts honors those who are at the very heart of filmmaking and have exhibited extraordinary work behind the camera over the past year,” the American Cinematheque’s official website states.
Individuals in 12 different categories that cover the process of filmmaking, like casting, editing, choreography, and costume design, will be celebrated throughout the evening, alongside showcasing clips from each of their respective works. According to Deadline, the honorees were selected by a prestigious jury of journalists, film historians, and cinephiles.
With a notable achievement of 80+ credits over the span of 50 years, Oscar-nominated cinematographer Ed Lachman will also be honored for his momentous career by receiving the Career Achievement Award. Some of Lachman’s contributions include The Virgin Suicides, El Conde, Far from Heaven, and most recently, Maria, starring Angelina Jolie.
When discussing the upcoming event, American Cinematheque’s artistic director, Grant Moninger, said, “Film is the most collaborative artform, and the American Cinematheque is thrilled to celebrate the essential work of the artisans and craftspeople behind this year’s finest films.”
