AMC Theaters Delay Reopenings Until August

With COVID-19 cases back on the rise, it is not business as usual for AMC Theaters, the largest chain of movie theaters in the world. The cinema chain has been shut down since mid-March after the global pandemic made going out in public hazardous. AMC has been hopeful about reopening this month, projecting to be back to full business by July 24th, which was later pushed back to July 30th.

AMC now claims that they are postponing the reopening of their U.S. theaters to mid-to-late August.

“This new timing reflects currently expected release dates for much anticipated blockbusters like Warner Bros.’ Tenet and Disney’s Mulan, as well as release dates for several other new movies coming to AMC’s big screens,” a release from AMC stated.

There has been worry that AMC may go out of business due to being out of commission for so long.
