Amber Heard’s Return to the Big Screen: ‘In The Fire’ Premiering at 69th Taormina Film Festival

Amber Heard is set to make her return to the big screen, marking her first film since Zack Snyder’s Justice League, released by DC studios in 2021. The actress will attend the 69th Taormina Film Festival  for the world premiere of In The Fire. The highly anticipated film will debut at the Teatro Antico di Taormina on June 24th. Running from June 23rd to July 1st, 2023. 

Set in the 1980s, In The Fire, tells the story of a doctor who embarks on a voyage from New York to a secluded plantation in Colombia. Her mission is to provide medical attention to a troubled young boy who possesses inexplicable abilities. Her efforts trigger a clash between the science and religious beliefs, causing conflict with the village priest, who is convinced the boy is possessed by evil forces. 

This is the first film Heart will promote following her highly documented and publicized legal battle with former husband Johnny Depp.

The 69th Taormina Film Festival boats an exciting lineup, curated by the new executive and co-artistic director Brett Wissman. One of the highlights includes the much-anticipated Indian Jones and The Dial of Destiny, starring Harrison Ford. 

Additionally, the festival will showcase a comprehensive career retrospective on John Lanis along with special focus on the collaborative works of Willem Dafoe and director Abel Efrra, encompassing screening of their acclaimed films.
