Amazon Releases ‘Candy Cane Lane’ Teaser Trailer; Eddie Murphy Stars

Amazon released a teaser trailer for the upcoming Prime Video holiday comedy Candy Cane Lane. The film stars Eddie Murphy and is directed by Reginald Hudlin, reuniting the two since their hit romantic comedy Boomerang.

Candy Can Lane features Eddie Murphy as a hapless dad named Chris, who wants to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas decoration competition. He then engages with a mischievous elf named Pepper (Jillian Bell), who promises to give Chris help winning the competition and having the best Christmas ever. The conniving elf then casts a spell that brings the 12 days of Christmas to life, which then runs amuck in the neighborhood. Faced with these consequences, Chris and his family team up to help end Pepper’s curse and save Christmas for the whole town.

Hudlin and writer Kelly Younger have brought their personal touches to this film to help bring out its Christmas magic. Younger was inspired by his childhood in El Segundo, California, where the real-life Candy Cane Lane event is held. During this celebration, Acacia Avenue is transformed into a winter wonderland where the neighbors can go all out in their Christmas decorations.

Hudlin admitted that he has wanted to direct a Christmas movie for a long time and believes that Candy Cane Lane could be a fresh and unique film for the holidays. “Eddie Murphy and this hilarious cast really bring the funny, it’s super Christmas-y, and it will hit you right in the feels,” Hudlin claims.

The film is set to be released on Amazon Prime on December 1st.
