Alien: Romulus, the latest entry in the classic sci-fi horror series is currently invading streaming charts worldwide, Collider reports. Set between the 1979 original and James Cameron’s sequel, Aliens, directed by Fede Álvarez and starring Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu, Alien: Romulus follows a group of colonists who, desperate to escape the reach of their employer Weyland-Yutani, attempt to flee the galaxy, only to become trapped in an abandoned station with the titular creature.
Released in theaters on August 16, 2024, the film would receive positive reviews, with an 80% Certified Fresh Critical Rating and an 85% Audience Rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
It would also go on to become a box-office hit, grossing $350 million worldwide on a budget of $80 million.
Now, per FlixPatrol, nearly two months after its debut on streaming, Alien: Romulus is currently in the number one spot on the Disney+ platform in numerous countries across the globe, such as Albania, Australia, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Norway, Poland, and Slovakia, with the film pulling in large numbers on other platforms such as Amazon, iTunes, and Google also.
Naturally, with this success, a follow-up film, possibly directed by Ridley Scott, who directed the original and produced Romulus, and a TV series, Alien: Earth, have been announced.
Alien Romulus is currently streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
