Alessandro Nivola To Join Cast Of Sony’s ‘Kraven The Hunter’

Deadline reported today that Alessandro Nivola, known for his role in The Many Saints of Newark, is joining the cast of Sony’s Marvel picture Kraven The Hunter. Nivola has also appeared in American Hustle and Jurassic Park III.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to play the anti-hero Kraven himself with Fred Hechinger cast in the role of Chameleon, Kraven’s brother. Ariana DeBose of West Side Story has also recently been cast in the film as Calypso, a potion-using priestess, and Kraven’s lover. All three characters have come to blows with the likes of Spider-Man and Venom in the original comic books.

The film will be directed by J.C. Chandor and was written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach will produce.

Sony’s Marvel Universe is tangentially related to Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, but for the most part, it stands alone. Sony is coming off a strong year for their Marvel Universe in 2021 with Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home, co-produced with Disney. The studio also has Morbius, starring Jared Leto, releasing on April 1st this year. Further in the future, the studio has plans for more Spider-Man films, more Venom films, and Dakota Johnson has recently been cast as the popular comic book character Madame Web for her own film.

Kraven The Hunter is currently in pre-production and is set to release on January 13, 2023.
