Warner Bros is looking into another remake and have formally signed on Albert Hughes to direct it. The reboot in question is The Fugitive, which will feature a script compiled by Broken City‘s Brian Tucker and be produced by Erik Feig, according to Deadline.
Unlike its source material, Warner Bros is reinventing the property based on the 1963 television series of the same name starring David Janssen and Barry Morse, which was later made into a 1993 thriller directed by Andrew Davis and starring Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. The film garnered seven Oscar nominations and propelled Jones into leading man status, winning Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of ambitious U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard who spent the film’s duration hunting down Harrison Ford’s Richard Kimble. The film’s plot centers around a doctor who is accused of murdering his wife and escapes police custody to discover the person truly responsible for his framing.
Hughes recently directed the 2018 adventure film Alpha and, prior to that, teamed up with his brother Allen Hughes on the smash Warner Bros blockbuster The Book of Eli. Hughes also had a directorial contribution to the second episode of an upcoming Showtime limited series The Good Lord Bird, which will star Ethan Hawke and is due for release next year.
