Alamo Drafthouse To Host 21-Hour ‘Star Wars’ Marathon

The Alamo Drafthouse is presenting a 21-hour marathon of all nine Star Wars movies on May 3-4 at its New Mission theater in San Francisco. The event falls in line with the 25th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. The viewing will start with the Phantom Menace on May 3rd and end with The Rise of Skywalker on May 4th.

According to The Hollywood Reporter attendees will be given breaks during this all-in-one-viewing experience and will be offered unlimited coffee and water to keep themselves awake. There will also be Star Wars themed snacks as well as games and trivia during the breaks.

The CEO of Alamo Drafthouse Michael Kustermann stated, “Some of us grew up with the original trilogy, some of us with the prequels, and some with the sequels…This event brings all fans together for one epic celebration, and that really is a testament to the power of cinema and the theatrical experience, as well as the incredible impact Star Wars has had on pop culture.”

The Alamo Drafthouse is an Austin, TX based theater chain that was founded in 1997. According to its website, “Today, Alamo Drafthouse has dozens of locations across the United States, with many more to come. Each location is managed with the same dedication and careful regard to film-inspired food and drink, crystal-clear visual and audio presentation, and deliriously fun special events, all inspired by those first years at Colorado Street.” It seems to be growing in popularity and relevancy as time goes by. From personal experience, I know it is a fantastic place to view a film and the Star Wars marathon is sure to be a hit with fans.

Hannah Mitchell: Hi All! My name is Hannah Mitchell, I just graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis with a major in English. I am very excited to start writing for Mxdwn! I have been passionate about film and storytelling from a young age. My favorite movie of all time is Stand by Me. My favorite TV Show is Succession (a bit basic, I know). But I also love British TV and film and some of my favorite shows from across the pond are Crashing and Misfits. I actually met Jonathan Bailey in London which was incredibly exciting. Anyways, I'm ready to write for this site and am optimistic about my future here!
