Actress Within the DCU Speaks Out About ‘Supergirl’

Neva Howell (Superman (2025)) recently took to X to post her opinion on James Gunn’s SuperGirl (2026).

She responded to a post that had a caption “what went wrong with this movie,” with,”I personally enjoyed the performances of Milly Alcock and Jason Mamoa. I agree with many that Krem did not have strong impact. For me, personally, the LONG, chaotic fight scenes in dimly lit areas were not my favorite.” As of now, Supergirl (2026) stands with an audience score of 72% on rotten tomatoes and 53% for critic score; a lower score than Superman (2025).

Neva Howell portrayed Superman’s mother, Ma Kent, in James Gunn’s Superman. She has not been confirmed for other projects of James Gunn’s DCU, but Milly Alcock is set for another appearance as Supergirl. On the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Alcock confirmed that she will appear in Man of Tomorrow, the follow-up to Superman (2025). When asked about how the set of Man of Tomorrow feels compared to Supergirl (2026), Alcock said, “It’s hard to code-switch and it’s a different environment than the environment that we had on Supergirl (2026). It’s a different story but all of the cast I’ve gotten to work with have been super open and really lovely.” Man of Tomorrow is set to release July 9th, 2027.
