Star Wars is returning to the big screen this May for the first time in 7 years with the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu, followed by Starfighter the year after. Although shooting has wrapped in Starfighter, director Shawn Levy has given some insight into who helped out with one of the key action sequences of the film.
Starfighter marks the beginning of a new era for the Star Wars universe. While some of the finer details of the story are being kept under wraps, this is the first project in the new era of Disney Star Wars to take place after The Rise of Skywalker. Ryan Gosling, Amy Adams, Mia Goth, and Flynn Gray lead the cast.
While not revealing much, Levy was able to tell The New York Times that none other than Tom Cruise was actually on set the day a pivotal action sequence was being filmed. The sequence in question was a lightsaber duel being filmed in the water, with Cruise on set observing. When Levy, as a joke, suggested that Cruise wanted a go at filming, Cruise reportedly didn’t hesitate and jumped at the opportunity to help with filming.
Screenrant noted that regarding the segments filmed by Cruise, Levy said, “You’ll know that part of it was shot by Tom. I mean, how cool is that?” Reportedly, as well, the duel could be between the characters Goth and Adams portrayed, as rumors indicate that they could both be Force sensitive.
