Acid-Tongued Frances McDormand Fights For Justice in ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’

Fox Searchlight has debuted a razor sharp red-band first trailer for Martin McDonagh’s latest darkly comic crime drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The film stars Oscar winner Frances McDormand as a mother fed up with police inaction in their pursuit in investigating her daughter’s murder. McDonaugh is the British provocateur behind critically admired films like In Bruges (which earned an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay) and Seven Psychopaths, as well as award-winning plays suchs as The Pillowman and The Lieutenant of Inishmore. McDonaugh won an Academy Award for the 2005 live-action short film Six Shooter. He both wrote and directed Three Billboards.

Three Billboards centers on Mildred Hayes, a disillusioned (and mighty fed up) who puts forth a bold move to get the attention of the police department – by placing scolding billboard signs admonishing their efforts to pursue justice. The all-star ensemble cast includes Woody Harrelson (No Country for Old Men), Sam Rockwell (Moon), John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Zelijko Ivanek (Argo), Abbie Cornish (Bright Star), Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out) and recent Oscar nominee Lucas Hedges (Manchester by the Sea).

No release date has yet been set for Three Billboard Outside Ebbing, Missouri, but the first tease is mighty enticing.
