Here we go again! The original Mamma Mia! released to moderate reviews, but many consider the music, originally performed by ABBA, to be the reason to watch the film. Ten years after the original film, this year, the sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is coming to theaters, and our curiosities are piqued after watching the new international trailer.
After marrying the man of her life and discovering three different people could be her father, Sophie becomes pregnant in the same place as her mother. As the family begins to arrive to congratulate the baby, we begin to learn more about Donna’s, — Sophie’s mother’s — past, which begins to reveal how she met the three different men that could be Sophie’s father and how Sophie came into this world.
The wacky, zany cast from the original musical appears to be mostly intact, with a very powerful cast including Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Dominic Cooper, and Christine Baranski. New players to the cast include the likes of Lily James, Cher, and Andy Garcia.
Ol Parker has written and directed the new musical which should feature more music adaptations from ABBA. The film is set to release July 20, 2018.
