Filmmaking has begun on Dune: Part 3, and director Denis Villeneuve has treated audiences to a sneak peak at the planet Arrakis. Posted on the official Dune X account on July 8th, we can see a photograph of the desert planet along with a quote from the book: “…on a journey into that land where we walk without footprints.”
The photo is breathtaking. The rolling sand dunes paired with the sunset tones of red are stunning. Hopefully this photograph is only a taste of some of the breathtaking cinematography we can expect from the film.
Dune: Part 3 is an adaptation of the second book in the Dune series, titled Dune Messiah. Many of those cast in the first two films are returning to the series. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Jason Momoa are all set to return. There are also some new cast members joining in for the third film. Both Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke are set to make appearances.
Dune: Part 3 is currently set for release some time in 2026, and the start of production seems to indicate that everything is running on schedule. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates.
