Amandla Stenberg, the talented young actress who got her start in the first Hunger Games film, is starring in another sci-fi thriller this summer, The Darkest Minds, the trailer for which was released today. This time, Stenberg plays Ruby, teen who is fortunate to survive a deadly plague, though she also gains an unnatural superpower, making her a target. Those who develop the superpower are sent to camps, which Ruby must navigate through in order to escape back to her home.
Based on the novel by Alexandra Bracken, the film is being directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson, who is best known for her work on both Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2.
The Darkest Minds also co stars This is Us star, Mandy Moore, and Star Wars actress, Gwendoline Christie as Lady Jane.
The thriller is scheduled to come out to a theater near you on August 3, 2018.
