

With 2025 drawing to a close, the time for many to select the best films of the year has come. Although the award season isn’t in full swing just yet, the Critics’ Choice Awards have announced their annual nominations for 2025.
This year has had a slew of highly acclaimed films, with some of the highlights getting numerous nominations. Hollywood Reporter, which posted a full rundown of the nominees, noted that Ryan Coogler’s Sinners gathered the most nominations at a whopping 17, including a nod for Best Picture. Sinners is joined by Bugonia, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Jay Kelly, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, Sentimental Value, Train Dreams, and Wicked: For Good in the race for Best Picture.
One Battle After Another also has a stake in the race across many major categories, marking the second most-nominated film this year. Four cast members are up for a nomination, including Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Actor, Chase Infiniti for Best Actress, Benicio Del Toro and Sean Penn for Best Supporting Actor, and Teyona Taylor for Best Supporting Actress.
The category of Best Director closely reflects the nominees of Best Picture. Included in the running are Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle After Another), Ryan Coogler (Sinners), Guillermo del Toro (Frankenstein), Josh Safdie (Marty Supreme), Joachim Trier (Sentimental Value), and Chloé Zhao (Hamnet).
