The 2023 Kids Choice Awards aired on Nickelodeon and was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on March 4th. Nate Burleson, a well-known television host, and Charli D’Amelio, who went on to win Favorite Female Creator that night, hosted. with Michael Le and Markell Washington joining the two to open the awards show with a dance medley. There were also special performances by Bebe Rexha, Lil Baby, and Young Dylan.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the Kids Choice Awards without someone getting slimed. This year, Adam Sandler was honored as the “King of Comedy” for his contribution to the genre, and at the end of his acceptance speech, Sandler joked, “Thank you for not sliming me tonight. I can’t stand that stuff” he was covered. Another notable slime event was done by Halle Bailey and Awkwafina towards their The Little Mermaid co-star Melissa McCarthy where McCarthy was duck-tanked into 1,500 gallons of the goop.
Some winners included Jenna Ortega for Favorite Female TV Star (Family), Wednesday for Favorite Family TV Show, and SpongeBob Squarepants for Favorite Animated Show. Iconically, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 beat Avatar: The Way of Water and Top Gun: Maverick for Favorite Movie.
