2017 BAFTA Nominations – ‘La La Land’ Leads With 11 Nominations; ‘Arrival’ and ‘Nocturnal Animals’ Follow With 9 Each

Damien Chazelle’s modern musical La La Land is starting to look nearly unstoppable as the awards season favorite. On the heels of its record haul at the Golden Globes – where the film collected seven statues, the most of any film in Globe history – La La Land leads the field as nominations were announced for the 2017 British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards (Britain’s equivalent of the Oscars) with 11 total nominations. The science fiction hit Arrival (starring Amy Adams) and Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals (also starring Amy Adams) both came in second place with 9 nods apiece, both of which may stroke as a tad bit surprising but certainly boosts both films as we enter the home stretch.
