Netflix has finally revealed the release date to Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, a spiritual sequel to his 2004 take on Dawn of the Dead. The film is set to release on the streamer May 21, and the first trailer will drop this coming Thursday.
The synopsis for the film reads: “Following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.” The film will star Dave Bautista, Huma Qureshi, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Tig Notaro and Matthias Schweighöfer.
While there may be more fans of the filmmaker hyping up the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, his 4-hour definitive cut of the 2017 superhero film which is releasing to HBO Max March 18, Snyder’s new zombie action-thriller may prove to be a blast. The already released teaser poster for the film promises a colorful and bloody adventure complete with stacks of cash and decks of cars.
Netflix seems to be all-in on the project. Snyder announced on Twitter in December that they’ve already wrapped production on a prequel film titled, Army of the Dead: The Prequel, which focuses on Schweighöfer’s character.
